An absorption chiller produces chilled water using waste heat — such as steam, hot water, exhaust gas or fuel — instead of electricity-driven compression. It uses water as a natural refrigerant and a lithium bromide salt solution as absorbent. Thermax absorption chillers range from 175kW to 12,300kW and produce chilled water down to −5°C.
An absorption heat pump upgrades low-grade waste heat — from flue gas condensation, waste incineration, biomass plants, CHP plants or industrial processes — into high-temperature hot water for district heating and industrial applications.
